Some Catty-promises

As the days have started getting a bit lighter again, and my little catty-body clock has registered this, I have decided to make some promises of things I will do for the catty-year ahead:

-I will clean the left side of my face a bit more. I seem to get distracted with cleaning my right side too much, with my licked paw.

-I will try not to squirm as much when daddy picks me up for a cuddle: it's not my favourite thing, but I shall endure it.

-I will see if I can get daddy to pay me more attention during the night, with stronger nose-nuzzles in his ear.

-I will try to favour the red catty biscuits less compared to the green ones.

-I will try to get on with Steve again, if he apologises for being breedist.

-I will try to reach the 5th branch of the tree at the back of my garden.

-I shall try to consider the feelings of meeces I catch by playing with them less before killing them.

-I shall try to alert daddy a bit quicker if I do a little catty-sick.

-I shall bury my catty-poos a bit deeper, in my territory...I have become lazy with this.

-I shall catch my first Magpie ever.

That is all.

Catty-bleurgh!

Oops! I got a bit overexcited during the night.

I came in hungry and decided to eat some biscuits. It was quite late.

I thought I saw a moth, so I chased it for a bit, but it turned out to be shadow.

After this excitement I went to jump on my bed, where daddy sleeps. The only problem was that I felt some of my catty-biscuits start to come back up, because of all my running around.

I tried to stop it, I really did, but I already had the pre-catty-sick warning hiccups.
I decided that the best place for catty-vom would be on daddy's feet, as they were sticking out of the bed and looked cold: I like to look after daddy if I can.

Daddy didn't seem to wake up, despite my best efforts to keep his feet warm, so I went and slept on my other bed.
I did hear 'eugh!' and Bruce!' early this morning, but I'm not sure what that meant, so I went back to sleep....

Thursday 27 December 2012

So I got that thing from the cupboard...

...that daddy was hiding from me (the thing wrapped in red paper that smelt of Catnip!).

Sure enough it was some catty-drug toys for me; some fake mice filled with the stuff :)

For this reason, I have been in a bit of a catty-daze for two days. I may have accidentally eaten one of the mice, I'm not sure....

The fur on one paw is green, but I don't know why. I shall report back once I find out more....

Monday 24 December 2012

Does anyone know how to get into a cupboard?

I can still smell catty-drugs (Catnip! mmmm) coming from the cupboard where daddy put the weird thing, wrapped up in red paper, for me.

I keep trying to paw open this cupboard, but I can't get in :(
I have tried nosing it open too, and simply miaowing at it, but this doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas?

What's this??

I'm both catty-confused and catty-happy!

Daddy just went past me carrying something wrapped in bright red paper (it also had pictures of a fat, old human on it, with white hair on his face and head), that smelt of catnip!

I got a whiff of it and my little catty-ears went up, and my catty-nose twitched. Daddy said something like 'not yet Bruce... you'll have to wait two days'.
The he put the wrapped up thing in a cupboard and closed it. I can't open closed doors with my paws so I can't get to it :(

I wonder what it is? I wonder why daddy won't give it to me yet?

This seems a bit cruel, but he is still feeding me and giving me belly rubs so.... hmmm, all very interesting....

Friday 21 December 2012

Sorry for the disappearance, but...

...I found something very, very interesting, 3 houses away from my home!

This is the reason I haven't been able to blog for the last few days: I've been having too much catty-fun!

I found a front garden absolutely covered with lots of shiny catty-toys, put up by a very kind person who clearly loves cats.

There are round things that swing on string, when you paw-swat them. Some of them fell down, which meant they could be pounced on: little, fake, shiny mice!

There are long, skinny cords of things, with lights attached, perfect for chewing.

There are also lots of things to hide behind, to look out for Robins, like weird objects that look like deer... but they don't move.

Oh, and I think I might have accidentally hurt a big man in red and white coat. He was quite fat, and bloated. He scared me, so I clawed him and he went completely flat, and fell to the ground. This confused me. I hope he's okay. He didn't make any noise.

I am now indoors for a bit as I got bored with those catty-toys, and wanted some attention.

Weird skinny thing

What are these things?

They are very pounceable!

Daddy caught me chewing them though, and took them away. I'm sad now :(

I may have to groom my tail for a bit to get over this...

Strange female human

I'm very confused: I hope someone can solve a mystery for me.

Nearly every morning, quite early, a female human comes to the door of my home, pulls something made of rolled up paper out of a brightly coloured bag, then puts it through a hole in the middle of that door.
I don't understand why she does this. I have seen daddy looking at this thing made out of rolled up paper though.

Unfortunately the hole in the door of my home is not big enough for me to get through.
However, when this female human comes along I often think she'll let me inside, or at least have some food on her.

Because of this I rub against her legs and give her my cutest 'attention please' miaow.
She often strokes my head, which I like, but she never gives me any food, or lets me in.
I hope one day she will do one of these things so, for now, I will keep giving her catty leg-rubs.

I'd like to know who she is though, and why she comes to my home every morning?

Not recommended

I did go out for a bit this morning, and tried one puddle, again; just so my local catty friends, and humans, are informed on the best drinking spots in the area.

I have to say, I wasn't impressed.

The puddle I tried was on the broken path by next door's shed.

Here are my findings; Pungent stagnant aroma. A touch of rotted twig, and chestnut shell, on the catty-nose. Bitter on the catty-palate, with  overtones of rusted gate and dropped compost. Long, sandy, oily finish. Not nice. Avoid. There are much better puddles in the area.

Other than that tasting, I came in fairly early today, and have had a nice snooze. It's far too windy outside at the moment, and the cold gets into my pointy catty-ears, which I don't like.

I shall now do some more snoozing.

Taste test continued

After trying out the flavours of an unexpected, new drinking puddle, yesterday, I decided to report back on the complex flavours of other puddles in my territory.
This will be useful for any other cats who live near me, and any humans who wish to sample my favourite drinking spots.

These are my findings:

The puddle in the quiet road, outside my home: soft, mossy aroma, with a strong kick of rubber on the first lick. This gives way to a delicate earthiness, that lingers, before a fanfare of grit on the finish.

The puddle that sits in the drain cover, near the front door: thick, syrupy, and chunky, with a heavy dose of iron on the catty-nose. Pungent muddiness then slips through, and coats the mouth, before a slight saltiness assaults the tongue. The finish is deft, with touches of algae.

The puddle in the gutter attached to next door's flat roof: Subtle Oak leaf tones melt into acorny bitterness, before a sharp tang of Pigeon poo steps in. The finish is big and punchy, with hints of spinning Sycamore seeds.

The puddle in the big, stone flowerpot, two gardens away: Unmistakable peatiness wafts across the catty-palate, and raw grassiness abounds. There's a slight trace of slug juice in there, along with dead Marigolds. Finally, a touch of Magpie feather takes over.
Lovely.

There are other puddles that I need to revisit, so there should be more to report, on my taste tests, in the next few days. Yum :)

*A fine catty-vintage....

Taste test

Mmmm, now that it's not as cold as it has been in the previous few days, I have found a new puddle to drink. It is conveniently located in a pot.

I found it to have an interesting flavour: long earthy notes, with robust algaeness, hints of green shoots, with a long gritty finish on my catty-palate.

I have decided that, across tonight and tomorrow, I shall be trying more puddles, to compare different flavours, and shall be reporting back on these.

Catty-slurp.

Big catty-toy

Daddy is the bestest!

He put up my favourite big catty-climbing frame today, just for me to play on.

I had catty-hours of fun, trying to get to the top!

I'm not as fit as I used to be, it took me a lot longer that the last time to get all the way up.
I did get my paws in a bit of a muddle half way up too.

At one point I got caught, and had to call for daddy, who shouted 'Bruce!'. When he got to me I decided I didn't actually need any help, so batted him with my right paw... then miaowed for him to help me again.

Then I had a nap.

I hope he puts it up again tomorrow :)

Sunday 9 December 2012

mmmmm, new spot...

I can't believe that after all this time I've found a new spot to sleep in. It's such an obvious one too. It's so comfy. Can't believe I've never slept here before.

I wonder if there's anywhere else I'm missing, to have a quick nap on?

I still don't understand why daddy always sleeps in the same place. Not once have I seen him curl up on a cushion, or by a radiator. Humans are strange...

Saturday 8 December 2012

Deep catty-breaths

Just had the fright of my catty-life! :(

I woke up, after a lovely nap, had a luxurious stretch.... then saw a flash of fur behind me!

I thought something had crept up on me, and I'd let my catty-guard down, while sleeping.

I ran as fast as my legs would allow, skidded past a confused daddy, and tried to run up a door.... before I realised it was just my tail.

Phew!

My little catty-heart is still fluttering.... I'll have to have a lie down now.

Thursday 6 December 2012

A clean set

Phew! No more white stuff fell last night, so I can prowl without worry, for now.

I didn't really make the most of this today, though.

I did go out for a quick piddle - which made the white stuff go yellow - and bit of a sniff, but it was chilly on my little catty nose, so I came back in.

I decided to use the time well and, after a nap, I set about giving all of my paws a deep clean.
My front paws are both white, but were showing signs of hunting, so I licked them thoroughly to get them gleaming again. Then I nibbled between all of my little catty-toes, and made sure nothing was on my claws.

One of my back paws is white, with little black spots. The other is completely black. Regardless, I gave them both an even licking. I had to concentrate hard on cleaning my back toes and paws: these are what I use to scramble up trees and fences, so they can get very mucky.
I did note that one of my back claws has a small crack in it. I don't really scratch my favourite scratching tree with my back claws, so hopefully the crack will grow out.

Anyway, I have to go now as it's been a very tiring day.... catty-yawwwwwwwn.

Wednesday 5 December 2012

It's arrived!

The white stuff is here! I decided not to go out last night, and curled up next to daddy to keep warm (although I did get a bit bored during the night and accidentally pounced on him).

When I woke up, I had some food and a long catty-stretch, then decided to go outside for a wee and a bit of exploring.
As soon as I miaowed at the door, for daddy to let me out, I could see the white stuff on the floor.

I was really worried as, if you've seen my previous catty-post (White Stuff, 27th September), you'll know how I feel about this white stuff.

I carefully stepped into it. It was a little cold on my paws, but not too bad (but I did do a little, sensitive catty paw-shake at first). Luckily it's not too high, so I didn't disappear into it and I didn't have to worry about things hidden underneath it.

There weren't too many birdies about today, so it didn't matter that my dark fur stood out, or that the white stuff shows my paw prints.
However, I seem to remember that the white stuff doesn't appear one day and disappear the next. There's normally a few days of it.
I hope that it doesn't get up to the level of my little catty willy, like last year. I didn't enjoy that.

Hopefully there won't be any more white stuff tonight, but I'll just have to wait and see...

Tuesday 4 December 2012

A new discovery

Look what I found in a neighbour's garden; an undiscovered area to explore! (if I had my cushion with me I would've done a happy-catty-dance)

I had lots of fun sniffing things , looking in them, and turning them over with my paws (if they weren't too heavy).
I didn't find any meeces, but there was a whole family of woodleece under one thing. I ate some. I also found some string and played with it for a bit.
There was a pot with some water in, but it didn't taste as nice as my usual drinking puddle.
After I while I had a wee, then left.

I might go back there tomorrow though, just to see if I missed anything.

Monday 3 December 2012

My favourite cushion

Sometimes I get very happy; usually around feeding time, or when I've just come in from the cold, or when daddy gives me lots of attention and chin-tickles.

When I am super-catty-happy I like to wander over to my favourite cushion. I sit up, put my front paws on it, then push up and down with them, sinking into the cushion. It's my little happy dance. It shows that I am content and it reminds me of when I was a kitten, and I used to push against my mum's tummy to get more milk.

As I have just eaten, I have just had a very long happy dance. After a nap I may go back and do some more happy dancing, then I will find daddy and rub my head against him until he tickles my chin.

Here is a picture of my favourite happy dance cushion....

Sunday 2 December 2012

Happy Sunday :)

How much fun can one cat have in an afternoon?!

I've only just recovered from being given a big new toy to play with...

Then I found my favourite pen, and have spent catty-hours batting it around the house.

I think I need a little nap now, but need to think of another fun game to play when I wake up...

You may tickle my belly if you wish, I shall allow you this pleasure...
